SEL Announces Partnership with Highway to Reduce Freight Agent Risk Through Carrier Identity Management

Dallas, TX – SEL (Serving Entrepreneurs in Logistics) Supply-Chain Solutions, a top 100 logistics company, has entered into a strategic partnership with Highway to bring carrier identity management to SEL’s freight agents. With Highway’s best-in-class features, the partnership will change how SEL builds and maintains its carrier network to provide a better service to their agents, shippers, and carriers.

One of the major risks SEL is looking to guard against is double brokering. Highway enables users to verify carriers both at the company-level and at the dispatch-level of the individual they are speaking with. Any discrepancy between the MC number of the carrier assigned to the load and the MC number of the carrier that delivers the load is the opportunity for loss if a problem occurs in-transit.

“SEL Supply-Chain Solutions is a rapidly growing company. We’ve added over 55,000 carriers in the last 4 years,” said Dennis Martin, Chief Entrepreneur Officer at SEL. “We have a process in place to vet these carriers, and we still got compromised. Never had I ever felt a sense of vulnerability like I did when this happened. It’s a helpless feeling. I sleep better at night knowing that now we have Highway at our back.”

SEL’s freight agents will be able to vet carriers more thoroughly while onboarding faster and easier, allowing them to scale these processes with their rapid growth as a tech-focused logistics company. With a single sign-on feature to remove digital friction, carriers can get started with an agent in only a few minutes, and for carriers already in Highway’s system, agents can add them to their network with one click.

“As Highway partners with SEL, freight agents get the advantages of carrier identity management for a new level of assurance when onboarding and monitoring carriers as well as mitigating the risk of falling victim to double brokering schemes,” said Michael Caney, Chief Commercial Officer at Highway.

Highway also manages insurance certificates and updates and tracks scheduled auto policies based on VIN. Agents get one place to view all carrier information—including equipment types, preferred lanes, and documents—to receive alerts and better streamline their processes for managing carriers.

With Highway, SEL gives their freight agents the data, tools, and insights for better decisions on their carrier relationships, allowing them to reduce risk by securing their network and drastically minimize the chance of double brokering impacting their business.
